Jameela Khan

Recite

Her fingers scarred
by plucking
the strings of the violin. Her ear eager to continue playing, to feel
each note go through the bow and the veins in her before
it was taken away. She wanted

to glide across the singing floor,
be a character, let go and dream in
front of the cameras. Before
the audience was taken.

Jameela Khan has been writing from a young age, but it wasn’t until she got to high school where she found an interest in writing after her 11th grade English teacher, family, and friends enjoyed reading her work and encouraged her to keep writing. Jameela is a senior at Salisbury University majoring in Communications with a Media Studies track and an English minor.
